View and use your card details

Reveal your card details to pay online or in stores

Written by Noah

Open a card and select Show details to reveal and copy its number, expiry date and security code. Because Altitude Card is virtual, these details are how you pay: use them at checkout online, or add the card to Apple Wallet or Google Wallet to pay in stores.

View card details

  1. Go to Cards and select the card. The card panel opens on the right.

  2. Select Show details, in the row of actions beneath the card image.

  3. The card displays its full number, expiry date and security code (CVC). The cardholder name and billing address appear alongside. Details can take a moment to load.

  4. Select the copy icon next to any field to copy it.

  5. Select Hide details when you are finished.

Use the card online

At checkout, enter the card number, expiry date and security code. If the merchant asks for a billing address, use the billing address shown with your card details. This is the address you entered when you activated your card.

3D Secure (3DS) checks at checkout

Some merchants add an extra identity check at online checkout, called 3D Secure. A one-time code is sent to the contact details on the card account, and you enter it in the merchant's window to confirm the purchase.

3DS is initiated by the merchant, not by Altitude or Visa, so whether you see a challenge depends on the merchant and the transaction.

The challenge window expires after a short time. If it expires or is cancelled, some merchants send the purchase through the standard authorization flow instead, where it is approved on ordinary risk checks: card number, expiry date and security code, spending history and risk scoring, location, merchant type and transaction pattern. This means you can receive a 3DS code and still see the purchase complete without entering it.

Note: If a purchase you made completed successfully, a 3DS code you did not use can be disregarded. If you do not recognize the purchase, freeze the card and dispute the transaction.

Use the card in stores

To pay in stores from your phone, add the card to Apple Wallet or Google Wallet, where available. See Add your card to Apple Wallet or Google Wallet.

Keep card details safe

Card details are sensitive. Only enter them with the merchant you are paying. Anyone with access to the card in your workspace can reveal these details.

Note: If you think a card's details have been exposed, freeze the card right away. See Freeze your card.
