Send a SEPA payment

Send EUR to European bank accounts via SEPA

Written by Noah

Altitude's Send feature allows you to send EUR to European bank accounts via SEPA (Single Euro Payments Area) – with zero platform fees. Funds are sent directly from your EUR sub-account to the recipient's European bank account.

For USD payments to US bank accounts, see Send a US domestic payment. For USD payments to international bank accounts outside of SEPA, see Send an international payment.

Sending a SEPA payment

To send a SEPA payment:

  1. From the Treasury dashboard, select Send.

  2. Select Bank transfer.

  3. Choose the recipient from your contact book, or add a New recipient. When adding a new recipient, you will need their IBAN.

  4. Select SEPA as the payment method.

  5. Choose the EUR sub-account to send the payment from.

  6. Enter the payment amount.

  7. Enter a payment reference to share with the recipient (optional).

  8. Select Review to check details, add an internal note if needed, then click Initiate.

  9. A new proposal will appear in Approvals to be voted on and executed.

Note: Bank transfers are only available for verified accounts. SEPA payments can only be sent from EUR sub-accounts. Recipients will see Bridge (a Stripe company) listed as the sender, as Bridge powers payment orchestration. Use payment references to help recipients identify your payment (e.g. referencing an invoice number).

Processing times

SEPA payments typically arrive within 1 business day. Delivery times may vary depending on the recipient's bank and standard banking hours.

Fees

Altitude does not charge a transfer fee for SEPA payments.

Supported countries

SEPA covers bank accounts across the European Economic Area (EEA), including all EU member states as well as Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Switzerland, and several other participating countries and territories.
