Approvals

View, track, and act on proposals created by team members

Where proposals land for review, voting, and execution.

The Inbox is where you'll find proposals that need attention. A proposal is any action that runs through the approval flow: sending funds, moving balances, editing a member, and so on. Any team member with the Propose permission can create one.

Every proposal lands in the Inbox, where members with the Approve permission vote, and members with the Submit permission execute it once the Approval Threshold is met.

The Inbox table

Each row in the Inbox represents one proposal. Columns:

  1. Name: a short description of the proposed action.

  2. Status: the current state of the proposal (see below).

  3. Account: the Altitude account the proposal was created from.

  4. Created on: when the proposal was created.

  5. Amount: the value involved, where applicable.

  6. Approvals: how many approvals the proposal has against the threshold.

Proposals waiting on member action also show a Needs review badge on the row. Select any row to open the proposal detail and act on it.

Filter tabs at the top of the Inbox (All, Payments, Earn, Holdings, Transfer) narrow the list by the action that created the proposal.

Proposal statuses

Proposals move through five states as members review them:

  1. Active: created, but not yet approved, rejected, or cancelled.

  2. Ready: enough approvals to meet the Approval Threshold; ready to be submitted.

  3. Rejected: enough rejections to make the threshold mathematically unreachable.

  4. Executed: successfully submitted.

  5. Cancelled: a majority of Approvers chose to cancel before execution.

How a proposal gets rejected

A proposal moves from Active to Rejected only when rejections from members with the Approve permission make it impossible to reach the Approval Threshold. That number isn't always equal to the threshold itself.

For example, with 5 members (all holding the Approve permission) and an Approval Threshold of 2/5:

  • 1 rejection: 2 approvals still reachable, remains Active.

  • 2 rejections: 2 approvals still reachable, remains Active.

  • 3 rejections: 2 approvals still reachable, remains Active.

  • 4 rejections: only 1 possible approval left, threshold unreachable, moves to Rejected.

How a proposal gets cancelled

A proposal moves from Ready to Cancelled when a majority of members with the Approve permission vote to cancel it.

Once cancel votes exceed 50% of all members with the Approve permission, the proposal cannot be submitted. That gives the team collective control to stop execution if circumstances change after the threshold has already been met.
