Suggestion Engine recommends a category and type for each transaction you review, based on how you've synced similar ones before. Take the suggestion, pick another or choose your own – nothing syncs until you select Sync.
It works on the Accounting page with QuickBooks or Xero. Not connected yet? See Sync transactions to QuickBooks or Sync transactions to Xero.
How suggestions work
Altitude looks for earlier transactions with the same counterparty and a similar amount, then suggests the category and type you used for them. Choosing a suggestion sets both together.
Suggestions come from your workspace's own history, so a new connection or a first payment to someone won't have one yet. Choose the category as usual – each transaction you sync helps suggest the next.
Use a suggestion
Go to Accounting and open For review.
Open the Category menu on a transaction. Suggested accounts sit above your full list of accounts.
Choose a suggestion, or pick an account yourself.
Check the preview and select Sync.
A suggestion that also changes the type says so – for example, Changes type to Transfer. In Xero, Spend money and Receive money still need a contact.
What the match percentage means
Each suggestion shows a match percentage and coloured dots – green for a close match, red for a weak one. A higher percentage means the transaction looks more like ones you've synced before.
A match isn't a guarantee. The percentage shows how similar the transaction is to past ones, not whether the category is right for this one – check before you sync.
When suggestions change
Each sync can update the suggestions for similar transactions still in For review. Altitude flags the update on the transaction and keeps any category you've already chosen – open the Category menu to see what's new.
