Sign in to Altitude

Sign in with your passkey or your Google account

Written by Noah

Altitude is passwordless. There are two ways to sign in, and both take you to the same account and workspace: your passkey, or your Google account if that's the email on your Altitude account.

Sign in with your passkey

  1. Go to app.altitude.xyz and enter your email.

  2. Select Continue with email.

  3. Confirm with your passkey using Touch ID, Face ID, your device PIN, your password manager or your YubiKey.

See Passkeys in Altitude for how passkeys work and which providers are supported.

Sign in with Google

If the email on your Altitude account is a Google account (Gmail or Google Workspace), you can sign in with Google instead of your passkey:

  1. Go to app.altitude.xyz and select Continue with Google.

  2. Choose the Google account that matches the email on your Altitude account and complete Google's sign-in.

Google confirms that you own that email address, and Altitude signs you in to your existing account. This works for workspace members and for cardholders who were invited by email.

Note: Signing in with Google only gets you into the app. When you approve a payment, sign a transaction or take another security-sensitive action, Altitude still asks for your passkey and a six-digit code sent to your primary email. Keep your passkey reachable even if you usually sign in with Google.

What Google sign-in doesn't do

  • It isn't a way to sign up. You can't create an Altitude account with a Google account. To open an account, sign up with your business email and create a passkey. Once your account exists, you can sign in with Google on later visits.

  • It doesn't replace your passkey. Your passkey is still your primary key, and you need it to authorize actions in your workspace. See Enterprise security on your Altitude account and workspace.

  • It doesn't change your email. Google sign-in only works for the exact email on your Altitude account. To move to a different address, see Members.

Staying signed in

However you sign in, you stay signed in for about 30 minutes. Shortly before your session ends, Altitude asks whether you want to stay signed in. If you don't respond, you're signed out automatically and can sign back in with either method.

Troubleshooting

I chose Continue with Google and Altitude doesn't recognise the email. The Google account you picked doesn't match an Altitude account, so Altitude treats it like any unknown email. Check that you selected the right Google account, especially if you're signed in to more than one in your browser. If you don't have an Altitude account yet, sign up with your business email instead.

My Altitude email isn't a Google account. Google sign-in is only available when your Altitude email is a Gmail or Google Workspace address. Sign in with your passkey instead.

I signed in with Google but I'm asked for my passkey when approving something. This is expected. Google sign-in starts your session; your passkey and email code still protect every sensitive action.

I lost the device with my passkey. You can regain access using your recovery email. If you're still locked out, contact Altitude support.
