Freeze, unfreeze or terminate a card

Freeze, unfreeze, rename or terminate any card

Written by Noah

Admins can freeze, unfreeze, rename or terminate any card. Open a card to Freeze it, or use Manage to rename or terminate it.

Note: Cardholders can freeze their own card but cannot unfreeze it. Unfreezing, renaming and terminating are admin actions. See Freeze your card.

Freeze a card

  1. Go to Cards and select the card. The card panel opens on the right.

  2. Select Freeze, in the row of actions beneath the card image.

  3. Confirm by selecting Freeze card.

The card moves to Frozen and cannot be used until you unfreeze it.

Unfreeze a card

Open the frozen card and select Unfreeze. The card returns to Active and can be used again.

Rename a card

  1. Go to Cards and select the card.

  2. Select Manage, in the row of actions beneath the card image, then Rename card.

  3. Enter a new name and save.

Terminate a card

  1. Go to Cards and select the card.

  2. Select Manage, in the row of actions beneath the card image, then Terminate card.

  3. Confirm to close the card.

The card moves to Canceled and cannot be used again.

Note: Terminating a card is permanent and cannot be undone. The card's transaction history stays available for your records. If the cardholder still needs to spend, issue a new card.

Freeze or terminate?

  • Freeze to pause a card temporarily, for example while you check a charge. It can be unfrozen later.

  • Terminate to close a card you no longer need, or if its details may be compromised. This cannot be reversed.
