Altitude MCP connects your account to the AI agent you already use – Claude, ChatGPT, Grok or any tool that supports MCP. Ask about your balances and transactions in plain language, without downloading or uploading documents.
This release is read-only. Your agent can retrieve your financial information, while payments, approvals and account changes stay in Altitude.
What your agent can do
Confirm the connected account – check which Altitude login it's using.
List your workspaces – every workspace you're an active member of.
View accounts and balances – including your Holdings breakdown.
Search transactions – by account, date range, type or direction.
We're adding more over time. To see what's available in your connection, ask your agent: Which Altitude tools can you use?
Before you start
You need an Altitude login with access to at least one workspace, and an AI tool that lets you add a custom MCP server (sometimes called a connector, plugin or integration). Use these details wherever your tool asks for them:
Name | Altitude |
Server URL | |
Sign-in | OAuth – you sign in to Altitude in your browser |
No API key needed. Leave any API key, client ID or header fields empty. You sign in with your usual Altitude login, and your tool takes care of the rest.
Connect Claude
Open this link to add Altitude as a custom connector with the details filled in. Or add a custom connector from Claude's connector settings and paste the server URL.
Confirm, then sign in to Altitude and approve the connection.
In a chat, make sure Altitude is turned on in your connectors.
On Team and Enterprise plans, an Owner adds the connector first, then each member connects. See Claude's guide.
Connect ChatGPT
On chatgpt.com, open your plugin settings and add a custom MCP server.
Paste the server URL, choose OAuth to sign in, and accept the notice.
Sign in to Altitude and approve the connection.
In a chat, mention @Altitude to use it.
Set it up on the web – the mobile app works differently. Depending on your plan, you may need to turn on developer mode first. See OpenAI's guide.
Connect Grok
Go to grok.com/connectors and add a new custom connector.
Paste the server URL, then sign in to Altitude and approve the connection.
On Business and Enterprise plans, an admin adds the server in the xAI console first. See xAI's guide.
Connect another AI tool
Altitude works with any AI tool that supports remote MCP servers with browser sign-in. That includes coding agents such as Codex, Claude Code and Cursor.
Find where your tool adds MCP servers – usually in its settings or a config file.
Add the server URL from Before you start.
Sign in to Altitude when prompted and approve the connection.
Some agents can set this up for you. Try asking: Connect to the Altitude MCP server at https://mcp.altitude.xyz/mcp. For technical setup, see the Altitude developer docs.
Check it's working
Ask: Which Altitude account am I connected to? If your agent answers with your Altitude details, you're set. Then try:
Show the accounts and balances in [workspace name].
List outgoing transactions in [workspace name] this month, excluding internal transfers.
Show my card purchases and refunds in [workspace name] this week.
Specify a workspace, account and time period to focus the results.
Permissions and your data
Your agent has exactly the access you have in Altitude – no more.
Members with card-only access see only their own card purchases and refunds.
If you leave a workspace, your agent loses access to it too.
Approval rules don't change. Payments are still proposed and approved in Altitude.
Your data and your AI provider: requested data is shared with your connected AI provider, so choose a tool that meets your company's financial data policies.
Disconnect an agent
In Altitude, go to Settings › My account.
Under MCP connections, select Disconnect next to the agent and confirm.
This removes the agent's access to all your workspaces straight away. You stay signed in to Altitude and can reconnect at any time.
Troubleshooting
The connection won't save or sign-in fails
Check the server URL is exact and that API key and client ID fields are empty. Remove Altitude from your tool, add it again and sign in.
My agent asks me to sign in again
Your session expired. Reconnect from your AI tool and sign in to Altitude.
A workspace is missing
Ask which Altitude account is connected. You may be signed in with a different login, or no longer a member of that workspace.
My agent can't do what I asked
It can only read the information listed above. Complete other actions in Altitude, or contact support with your AI tool's name and the message it showed.
